In the studio last weekend

Last weekend I had a full studio and wanted to share some of the results with you.

This is Alannah with her new scarf and Hannah with some gorgeous panels for cushions.
They really did a beautiful job - hopefully they will get the bug to do more!

Hope everyone is finding time to enjoy some beauty today,
Love Elizabeth

Playing with wool............

New scarf made in the studio today. This is a lace scarf with assorted fabrics felted in I will probably machine stitch tomorrow.

The rumpled tan fabric is dyed cheesecloth and the rosy pink is flocked silk.

I think the story of my life is really just playing with colour - so today's episode was regrouping all my hand dyed merino. Amazing how an hour just vanished!

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend - it is starting to rain just now -perfect to listen to in bed. Goodnight!

Beneath The Sea

Stitching in a mad frenzy does produce results - the trouble I find, is knowing where to stop. I had quite a few ideas for adding other bits but had to draw the line somewhere. The end work is a pair of felted dolls entitled "Beneath The Sea".

Have had a very strange week - but fortunately several hours work in the garden today - weeding and planning mainly, have yielded a mind that feels more calm this evening.

I have never tried meditation or retreats to relax - I find a spade in the garden and sweeping are very therapeutic! That is not to say I won't try other remedies - just never seem to find a pocket of time to do them.

Having too much fun -

As I mentioned a few weeks ago I have started doing paper mache again. I can't tell you how much fun I am having. Here are a few more heads waiting for a body and limbs etc.
Please don't laugh, but I have 23 heads made, primed and ready for a face! I am not going into large scale production just having too much fun!

I often wonder as I live this creative life - surely it can't get any better than this. I am so very lucky to have a place to work, a place to dream. And on top of all that, students to perpetuate this lifestyle!

I hope that whatever you are doing this week, it is giving you much pleasure.

Cheers

From a while ago...................

Several years ago I was mad for making cushions. I came across these pics whilst sorting through some discs in my upstairs work area. You know all so unlabeled things that you'll eventually go through? Or this that just me?

These all went to live with other people.

I always promise myself a set for my bed - oh well, when everything else is done I guess.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week

Cheers

The most beautiful time of day

I could hardly believe this leaf - it was as if it had appeared by magic no other one of its type to be seen nearby
Hope everyone is having a happy weekend

On the beach...........

This week I had a birthday. I must be getting extremely dull and narrow because I simply didn't care. What is with that? When you are a child you count off the days on the calender, you cross
off how many sleeps are left and then dream of what you might like to receive.

I think in my case - like many I know - it was to have the boxed set of Derwent pencils. Just thinking of them used to give me a shiver!

I remember that the only reason we got wall paper down our hall was because I had drawn over most of it. The idea that the drawings/scribble was oh so charming, eventually wore off and they were forever hidden under a cream embossed paper. Really rather boring now I come to think about it!

Well my family and I went down to the beach and ate fish and chips and went for a long walk.
It was just great. Here are some pics of the sand -I am never tired of looking at patterns in nature and how beautiful and somehow mystical they are. Almost too perfect to be true.

WELL sorry about that - I can't load any photos and have been unable to do so for about a week Anyone else having this trouble????

Hope everyone is having a good week
Cheers,

Elizabeth
